Highline Nurses Honored with First-Ever DAISY Award Ceremony

Highline Public Schools celebrated School Nurse Day by recognizing the care, compassion and impact of school nurses.

Highline is the first school district in Washington state to partner with the DAISY Foundation to recognize school nurses through the DAISY Award program. We are one of ten school districts in the country to launch the program.

The DAISY Award as an international recognition for nurses who show extraodinary compassion and clinical skill.

Assistant Superintendent Kisa Hendrickson thanked nurses for helping students stay healthy, safe and ready to learn.

“Sometimes school nurses are the only preventive or intervention healthcare support some students receive,” Hendrickson said. “You eliminate barriers so students can learn and succeed.”

Highline recognized 20 nurses nominated for the 2026 Highline DAISY Award. Roberta Bilic, BSN, RN, was selected as the first-ever Highline Public Schools DAISY Award recipient.

Roberta’s nomination highlighted her calm presence, clinical expertise and support for students and staff. During an emergency, she helped teach seizure rescue medication procedures while creating a calm and supportive environment.
