Middle school students have a lot of options when it comes to secondary schools. We encourage students and families to find the best fit.

The application window for the 2025-26 school year ends January 31, 2025.

Big Picture Middle School

Serving grades 6-12 — application required

Big Picture starts with your interests and tries to build the whole curriculum around that. You’ll create your own individualized learning plan, and most of your learning will happen through projects. You’ll work closely with a small advisory group that stays together multiple years, and two days a week you’ll pursue internships in real world settings related to your interests.

CHOICE Academy

Serving grades 6-12 — application required

CHOICE Academy provides a small, welcoming learning environment, with rigorous and relevant curriculum in a family-style school setting. The school offers flexibility, with traditional instruction in the morning and opportunities for on-site or independently-developed electives in the afternoon.

Highline Virtual Academy 

Serving grades 6-12 — application required

Highline Virtual Academy is an all remote school. Students who thrive in independent, online learning are good candidates. Staff build relationships and engage students in social-emotional support with students with one-on-one experiences.
