Hello! I'm Carly Meadows, and I am the school counselor at Madrona Elementary School. I was born and raised in Yakima and attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology, and Western Washington University in Bellingham, where I earned a Master's degree in school counseling. Prior to working at Madrona, I worked in the Franklin Pierce School District, the Renton School District, and at Chinook Middle School in Highline Public Schools. I live in south King County with my husband, Andy, and my two kitties, Kiki and Milo. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing my flute and piano, swimming and being outside. I love being an elementary school counselor, and I love working at Madrona!
What does an elementary school counselor do?
I work as part of a team with teachers, administrators, other school staff, parents, students and the community to identify and remove barriers to student academic success. This includes working with students individually and in small groups, providing whole class lessons and collaborating with parents and teachers. Students may be referred to me for a variety of reasons, including academics, social skills and emotional support. My services are open to all students at Madrona. Unlike mental health counselors, I do not provide long-term, individual counseling sessions, but I am happy to refer families to one of our local counseling agencies for this service.
If you would like to speak with me or schedule a meeting, please call or email me.
